Disciples Auditions Callback (Fall 2015)

Thank you to everyone who came out tonight, we really enjoyed the free show you put on for us. Seriously though, this is such a talented group of comedians. For those of you who did not receive callbacks KEEP PERFORMING! Please audition again, come to our workshops, and look at classes at DSI Comedy Theater on Franklin Street.

If you did not receive a callback and would like the notes on what you could improve on, please don’t hesitate to message our Facebook Page or email us at FalseProfitsComedy@gmail.com. Additionally, if you would like to keep working with us on more non-comedic terms, we are looking for people to help produce our shows and video sketches. If you have any past experience with Sound Design (Adobe Audition particularly), Light Design (any previous light work as a theater tech is enough), and Videography (experience with post effects and editing) please shoot us an email. We’ll start up a pretty informal application process.

We would like to call back the following people tomorrow at 7PM in Union 3411 (in no particular order) –

A Fond Farewell

Thank you so much.11045404_10152687334892466_2440810452451017666_n

That deserves its own line because I can’t thank everyone enough for the support you’ve given both me and this group over the past 2½ years. As I just completed my final course at Carolina last week, I officially became an alum of this comedy group, and it’s a little surreal to step aside.

Before I get too deep into this and everyone stops reading, I just want to say – as Jon Stewart so eloquently put it the other night – “This is only a pause in the conversation.” I’m not done with comedy. Quite the opposite. I’m more inspired than ever, and I’m actually working on a musical comedy album that I hope to put out in the next 6 months. I also Vine frequently (@KenanBateman) if you like 6 second nonsense. Shameless plug! I’d also love if you’d keep up with me and “like” my Facebook page at www.facebook.com/funnykb. I’ll also have my website done soon, which will be at www.kenanbateman.com. I’ve loved getting to know you all, and I’d love for you to keep in touch!

Narcissism complete! On to the heartfelt ish!

…OH WAIT I HAVE A TWITTER…oh yeah…follow that too – @KenanBateman

Now I’m done. I promise.

You never know when it’ll hit you, but I can now pinpoint when it sunk in that I was done with False Profits.

Our Alum’s Musical – “The Bipartisan”

11312703_491014544386183_5539069065154026159_oA quick shoutout to one of our alums doing big things. False Profits alumnus Joey Rasmus (’14) had his musical picked up for production – “The Bipartisan”.

During his time as a Profit, Joey produced the early drafts of a full-length musical. That same musical the group read over during a retreat at Kenan’s lake house is now being produced in New York City! It will run at the Hudson Guild Theater in Manhattan on August 6, 8, and 9.

As we look towards our 2015-2016 year of False Profits, we’re glad to see our alumni staying active in the comedy community after graduation.

“Collaboration with my fellow Profits and many other Tar Heels afforded me the opportunity and ability to create a socially conscious musical comedy with extraordinary potential. I hope to be able to share this smart and hilarious piece with the FP fans who were there to pay witness to my earliest works; setting me on the road to the NYC stage.”
